    ES membership penalities

You may have noticed a little flurry of penalties for players not being members of ES but having played 3 or more league matches.

Those are the rules but the badsquash system had been missing a case - which is now fixed - and so there have been a few more applied over the weekend.

If this affects you then you do need to become a valid ES member in order to continue playing league without incurring more penalities. This is best done via your club as it's cheaper (£10 instead of £12.50) and Avon county also get part of it back as a rebate. We can then spend that on developing the county.

Remember that your number needs to be entered on badsquash for it to count (it is checked against the ES membership DB as long as it's on the system). If you do your best to get it sorted, I'll remove recent penalties once your number checks out. Some players have individual memberships which is fine (except the county doesn't get the rebate) but it is up to them, then to keep an eye on their expiry date. You can always check/update your number on the system via your player history page. Just click on 'edit' once you're logged in.

ES is offering an enhanced rebate for those counties that mandate ES membership and Avon is one of those. This is measured as a percentage of ES members versus league players and includes both the mixed and ladies leagues. It is important that we maintain a high percentage. Like 90+. We're just a bit below that at the moment.

The enhanced rebate is worth about £1500 to Avon and that's one of the reasons we're mandating membership. It'll be £2000 next year as it's going up. The other main reason, of course, is to support our NGB as they do their best to promote our sport across the country in increasingly challenging circumstances and we need to do our bit.

    Thanks,
