    Darran Venn - funeral arrangements

If you knew Darran, please come along and pay your respects.

It is with great sadness that we have to advise of the tragic death of Darran Venn. Darran was involved in an RTA on his way to work on the coast road near Weymouth last Wednesday 17th May at around 0830 hrs.

Those of us privileged to play alongside Darran will remember the number 10 shirt cracking a winning cross court  backhand to the bemusement of his opponent and the gasps of disbelief from the balcony.  Darran confessed often that he didn't like running, but then he didn't have to! He never had a harsh word on court. He never argued with the referee or his opponent. He just got on with beating you! Darran will be sadly missed by all in the squash community but mostly by his friends at Gordano. AGMs just won't be the same.

As a mark of respect, the Gordano team have requested to withdraw from the summer league fixtures forthwith. The relevant teams affected have been informed and Gordano apologise for any inconvenience caused but trust that everyone can appreciate this decision given the huge shock and sadness it has caused the club.
