Save Kingsdown Sports Centre

 

Calling all squash players in Bristol,

If you have ever enjoyed playing and beating a Kingsdown team,

we ask to you to consider signing the petition (below) to save Kingsdown Sports Centre.

 

We need to get > 3K signatures (before feb) to get the proposed closure discussed at a full council meeting. 

 

 

The council might argue that it is a priviledge area, with well off clientel and that the facilities are supplied by gyms in the area,

however in our mind Kingsdown Sports Centre is a unique facility because;

• It has large sports hall used for thriving Badminton and Martial arts sessions and clubs.
• Obvioulsy the 3 squash courts.
  • (Already) The university sports centre doesn't have its own squash facilities and uses the grammar school.
  • Bobby runs the squash boxes with ~ 100 players which is free to enter (to anyone using the gym.)
  • Because of the boxes, nominal club memebership fee and teams, we are a good starter club which then feeds other clubs in the area. 
• For people renting in the local area it supplies a cheaper alternative (with unique facilities) than other (local) gyms like Nuffield.
