    Dear County Secretary,

Get more people on your squash courts by joining our Campaign!

The Commonwealth Games promises to be a fantastic summer for squash with our Team England players and World Champions Laura Massaro and Nick Matthew out in full force.

To help your organisation exploit the increased media coverage of squash in the coming months and get lapsed players “back onto your courts” and existing players “playing more regularly” at times when your courts are empty, England Squash & Racketball are:

Inviting you to promote activities on our Big Hit website:

    • List your club nights or social sessions on our “Play It” section
    • List your box leagues in our Court Challenge box league finder Supporting organisations to promote locally run squash competitions and events Inviting you to take part in a “Get Back on Court with the Sunday Social” campaign Providing “How To” resource packs focused on:
    • How to promote the campaign locally
    • Making the most of local media
    • Utilising social media effectively
    • Targeting and engaging with membership databases to “Get players back on court”
    • Signposting players where to go next to keep them involved and playing once a week

www.thebighit.net is the place to promote and list all participation opportunities. We are linked to the BBC Sport “Get Inspired” website where the BBC direct people to find out how to get involved in Commonwealth Games sports.

How can your organisation get involved ?

    1. If you have an existing regular club night or social session, simply send us the details and we will list it as a “Play It” session which will appear in a postcode search on www.thebighit.net
    2. If you would like to promote your existing box leagues, again send us the details and we will list them. If you are planning to run a competition then why not brand it as a “Court Challenge Event”, we can list and support this as well.
    3. Join our September campaign “Get Back on Court with the Sunday Social” and fill your off peak courts.

CLUBS - We are encouraging clubs to run and promote open social sessions on Sunday afternoons or evenings. These should be free of charge and run every Sunday in September which will be the duration of the campaign. These Sunday sessions primarily target lapsed or infrequent players to “get back onto court” with likeminded people. After the campaign you can direct re-engaged players back into wider opportunities at your club.

LEISURE CENTRES – We are encouraging leisure centres to offer courts for £1 on Sunday afternoons, again targeting lapsed or infrequent players. You can then direct re-engaged players into box leagues at your venues. If you need help creating these, we can advise you.

To get involved please complete the registration form below and email it back to Phil Wright.

    Yours sincerely
